How to use the new Auto-scrolling Hilight Feeds for In-School Monitor Displays
We are excited about a new feature that allows you to display an autoscrolling version of the Hilight Bulletin Feeds on TV Monitors in your hallways, faculty lounges, and more!
To access the new autoscrolling feed, go to https://www.hilightdashboard.com/monitor_display. You will be directed to login if you haven't already. Once logged in, you will automatically be redirected back to the monitor display. If you'd like to be able to use the monitor display without needing to login, check out the section below on "Magic Links"!
The monitor display shows you some overview statistics and a few graphics to help inspire your staff! It will flip through the hilights sent every few seconds.

Display Settings
By default, the monitor display is set to show the hilights sent across your district for the past month, and it will flip through the hilights every 5 seconds.
If you have more than one school at your district on Hilight, the monitor display will be set at the district level by default. If you are a single school on Hilight, you will only see your school's data.
If you'd like to change the time range, the number of hilights shown at a time, the rate at which the hilights flip, or if you'd like to show the hilights for only one school, you can click on the settings icon in the upper right corner.
You can also decide to hide the data points that display at the top if you'd like to only display the recent hilights sent. You can do so by adjusting the "Display Data" field in the settings popup.
You can access the settings by clicking on the settings icon in the upper right corner, which will open a Display Settings popup.

Click "Apply" to apply the settings you've selected. These settings will save so that the next time you open the monitor display, your saved settings will be used. If you'd like to set up more than one monitor display with different settings, check out the Magic Links section below!
In the example below, we've adjusted the display settings to hide the data at the top and display 3 hilights at a time for just the middle school.

If applicable, you can also choose to view the monitor display for a single school in your district by switching the "Display Level" from "District" to "School", and then selecting the school you'd like to view.

The monitor display will still show the graphic displaying the top 5 schools based on hilight sent, but the hilights shown and the rest of the data points will be specifically for the school you've selected.
How to exit the Monitor Display
Want to Logout or go back to the main Hilight app? Click on the "hilight" icon at the top of the screen.
Where to make use of this new display feature?
We recommend setting this up on display tvs or monitors in frequently visited locations in your schools! Do you have a tv in the teachers lounge or in your hallways or cafeteria? Students also benefit from seeing what your staff are recognizing each other for!
Magic Links
If you'd like the ability to use this display on a monitor in your school(s), but you need to be able to show it without logging in, you can use the Magic Links feature!
A magic link works like a digital hall pass—if you have the link, you can go straight in without needing to log in. It only opens the one page it’s meant for, and only while the pass is valid. Because the link gives direct access, please be careful not to share it with anyone else, since your Hilight data will be visible without logging in.
⚠️ Safety Tip: Magic links act like a key. Anyone with the link can view your Hilight data without logging in, so only share it with people you trust.
Let's say for example you have two TV's in your school building that you want to display the new Auto Scrolling Feeds on. One TV is in the teacher's lounge, and it would be fun for your teachers to see all the hilights going on across the district, so you want that TV to show the district wide data. The other TV is in your cafeteria, and you want it to just display the hilights that your staff are sending each other so that your students can see the recognition and positive impact. You could set up one magic link for the first TV and a separate magic link for the second TV. You can then save the display settings for each, so that they surface the correct data.
How to create a magic link
You can create a magic link by clicking on Admin Settings in the purple sidebar when logged into Hilight. At the top of the Admin Settings, you'll see three tabs for managing users, rewards, and the third is for magic links! Click the Magic Links tab.

Click the "Create Magic Link" button, select your name from the users drop down, and select the "/monitor_display" route from the drop down. Click create, and you now have a magic link to use!
You can copy your magic link by clicking the copy icon, or open it directly by clicking on the eye icon.

You can create as many magic links as you'd like! You can also set expiration dates for the links if you'd like them to expire after a given amount of time.
