Logging in to Hilight
Go to hilightdashboard.com or open the Hilight for Schools mobile app.
Depending on how your district is set up, you'll log in using one of the following:
- Google: Click "Sign in with Google" and select your school Google account
- Clever: Click "Log in with Clever"
- ClassLink: Click "Log in with ClassLink"
- Email and password: If your school or district doesn’t use any of the above SSO methods, you can set up a password for your Hilight account by clicking the “First time here? Set up your password” link on the Login page.

Sending your first hilight
After logging in, you'll land on the Home page. On the left side of the Home page, you will see the Send a hilight form. This is where you can send a hilight to recognize a colleague!
❗Important to remember! Every hilight sent is posted on the Bulletin feeds for everyone at your school and district to be able to see and celebrate. Hilights are not private messages. They are shoutouts that will be shared with everyone! ❗️
1. Choose who to recognize
In the "Select a Colleague's Name" dropdown, search for and select the person you want to recognize. You can send a hilight to multiple people at once!
2. Select a core value
Every hilight is tied to one of your school or district's core values. Choose the one that best reflects why you're recognizing this person. Each value has a short description to help you pick.
3. Write your message
In the "Why do you want to hilight this person?" field, write a personal message. The more specific you are, the more meaningful it will feel for the recipient.
4. Send it!
Click the GIVE button to send your hilight. 🎉
The recipient(s) will receive a notification that you sent them a hilight, and your hilight will be posted to your school and district’s Bulletin feeds for everyone to see and celebrate!
Tip: If your district is using the Rewards feature on Hilight, then at the top of the Send a hilight form, you can see how many hilight points you have left to send this week. Standard users get 25 points per week and each hilight you send uses one point per recipient (could result in multiple points sent if you select multiple recipients). The recipient(s) will then be able to spend their points in the rewards marketplace.
Bonus! You also receive a point every time you send 5 hilights!
Viewing your hilight on the Bulletin Feeds
After sending, your hilight will show up on the Bulletin feeds, which you can see a quick view of on the home page, or you can click the Bulletin tab in the top navigation bar to see the hilights sent across your school and district.
To find your own hilights specifically, click My Feed. There you can see the hilights you've sent and the hilights you've received.
